Jellies have come a long way since the 1980’s. I found these Chinese Laundry jellies via Oh Joy!, and ordered a pair in black because my black flats are dying on me.
These shoes are perfect for summer and would look great with jeans, dresses and skirts. Check out the other colors…
My good friend, Rob, tipped me off about the Canvas Collection by Land’s End this morning. Rob has amazing taste, and after I checked out the line I fell in love with it. Basically, it’s old school G.A.P. and J.Crew. Classic basics for young men and women.
To be honest, the last time I gave Land’s End a thought was when I lived in Wisconsin and my mom ordered a winter coat out of their catalog. I’m happy to see that they have added to their timeless outerwear image with the Canvas Collection. Here are some pictures to give you an idea.
I have naturally curly, fine, unruly hair. My mom has straight hair and doesn’t know the first thing about managing frizz and volume, so most of my life I’ve tried to brush out my curls, straighten, smooth and hide my crazy hair.
It wasn’t until I met my old roommate, Emma, who has hair like mine did I see that my locks could be tamed. However, even after watching her go through her beauty routine and trying her hair products, I couldn’t get the hang of it.
For some reason, in these past couple of weeks I have just decided to embrace my curly hair for what it is and attempt to bring out the best in it. I’m happy to report that I now love my hair and find getting ready in the morning much, MUCH easier. I owe my embrace to a couple of products…
Do you remember picking out your junior or senior prom dress? We only had senior prom at my high school, and I had the privilege of designing my own dress. It was such a blast! Many of you probably had a section of your closet devoted to formal gowns with wonderful memories attached to each by the time you graduated high school.
Well, my co-worker, Charnissa Moore, is in the process of starting a non-profit organization called Char’s Blessings where people can donate cocktail dresses, bridesmaid dresses, old prom dresses, formal shoes and accessories to give to those that cannot afford to buy a formal gown and give them the opportunity to attend their school dances and feel just as beautiful as the next girl.
If you have any items that you do not mind parting with that can help this cause, please send me an email (alex.evjen@gmail.com) or e-mail Charnissa Moore directly if you have further questions.
1. If you have a bad hair day you can still look stylish with a hat.
2. If you are losing your hair you can cover it up with a hat.
3. You will get noticed because most people don’t wear them often.
4. Hats protect your head from the sun
5. Some hats keep your head nice and toasty
Now, I should clarify and say that I’m not talking about baseball caps. Though they are functional and appropriate for athletic activity, sporting events, gardening, etc., they aren’t “stylish” at the moment. Here are some examples…
Today I completed my very first closet makeover for one of the winners of the Closet Makeover Contest that was held this past week. Tiffany was such a blast to work with. She has such great style! I found myself wanting everything in her closet as we began sifting through her clothes. It only took us an hour and a half to sort through, fold and hang her wardrobe!
Things that helped the process from the start were having the same hangars throughout the space, the closet was kept pretty tidy and she had plenty of alternative storage containers.

A while ago I did a beauty product review of the M.A.C. Shadestick, and I have been an evangelist for that product since I tried it. Well, I decided to forgo the Shadestick this time and give the Paint Pot a whirl.
It’s the same product as the stick but you use either your finger or a brush to apply it. Well, ladies, the pot has won me over. Why?….
