Flesh tones are big this spring, but many of us steer clear of the neutral hues because they can make you look washed out and naked. But, like my mom always says, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” Here are my tips…

How to Wear a Romper
How to Wear a Romper by Alexandra Evjen featuring Lanvin shoes

The last time I wore a romper was when I was three and building sand castles on the beach. I’m 26 now, but that doesn’t mean I’m too old to embrace the trend of these one-piece wonders. Here are some tips…

Menswear Monday – SPF

Posted by Alexandra Evjen on March 15, 2010 | No Comments

This post is short and sweet.

Guys, please wear sunscreen every day! Don’t let being embarrassed about moisturizing your skin stop you from protecting your skin against UV rays. Whether you are in a cloudy climate or the desert, UV rays are always present during the day. So, fight against skin damage and prolong signs of aging by considering these products…

Jellies

Posted by Alexandra Evjen on March 10, 2010 | 5 Comments

Jellies have come a long way since the 1980’s. I found these Chinese Laundry jellies via Oh Joy!, and ordered a pair in black because my black flats are dying on me.

These shoes are perfect for summer and would look great with jeans, dresses and skirts. Check out the other colors…

Land’s End Canvas Collection – Menswear & Womenswear

Posted by Alexandra Evjen on March 9, 2010 | 1 Comment

My good friend, Rob, tipped me off about the Canvas Collection by Land’s End this morning. Rob has amazing taste, and after I checked out the line I fell in love with it. Basically, it’s old school G.A.P. and J.Crew. Classic basics for young men and women.

To be honest, the last time I gave Land’s End a thought was when I lived in Wisconsin and my mom ordered a winter coat out of their catalog. I’m happy to see that they have added to their timeless outerwear image with the Canvas Collection. Here are some pictures to give you an idea.

Embracing My Curl

Posted by Alexandra Evjen on March 6, 2010 | 1 Comment

I have naturally curly, fine, unruly hair. My mom has straight hair and doesn’t know the first thing about managing frizz and volume, so most of my life I’ve tried to brush out my curls, straighten, smooth and hide my crazy hair.

It wasn’t until I met my old roommate, Emma, who has hair like mine did I see that my locks could be tamed. However, even after watching her go through her beauty routine and trying her hair products, I couldn’t get the hang of it.

For some reason, in these past couple of weeks I have just decided to embrace my curly hair for what it is and attempt to bring out the best in it. I’m happy to report that I now love my hair and find getting ready in the morning much, MUCH easier. I owe my embrace to a couple of products…

M.A.C. Zoom Lash Mascara

Posted by Alexandra Evjen on March 4, 2010 | No Comments

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I ventured out of my comfort zone and tried CoverGirl Lashblast Length Mascara and was horribly disappointed. This left me needing a new mascara, and since I’ve been enjoying MAC’s Paint Pots, I decided to try MAC Zoom Lash Mascara.

To sum up my feelings about it…

Prom Dream Dresses

Posted by Alexandra Evjen on March 3, 2010 | 3 Comments

Do you remember picking out your junior or senior prom dress? We only had senior prom at my high school, and I had the privilege of designing my own dress. It was such a blast! Many of you probably had a section of your closet devoted to formal gowns with wonderful memories attached to each  by the time you graduated high school.

Well, my co-worker, Charnissa Moore, is in the process of starting a non-profit organization called Char’s Blessings where people can donate cocktail dresses, bridesmaid dresses, old prom dresses, formal shoes and accessories to give to those that cannot afford to buy a formal gown and give them the opportunity to attend their school dances and feel just as beautiful as the next girl.

If you have any items that you do not mind parting with that can help this cause, please send me an email (alex.evjen@gmail.com) or e-mail Charnissa Moore directly if you have further questions.
